Nothing hidden. Nothing exploited.

Our standard for a fair, sustainable, traceable supply chain

AVN's technicians don't only visit a farm to collect compliance evidence. While they're there, they support the practices that keep the farm, the water supply, and the cooperative around it viable, then prove it happened. This is the standard every AVN Earth client and every direct purchase is built on.

At the farm

What our technicians actually do at origin

This is good for the planet, and it's good for supply chain resilience: a farm that manages its water and protects its tree cover is a farm that's still producing next season, and the one after that.

Deforestation education

Our technicians work with farmers on why deforestation-free land matters, not just which plots pass the check, so the practice holds up after our visit ends, not just on the day we verify it.

Water-supply support

We help farmers manage water use and protect the local supply, working at watershed scale around origins like Mubende, not just measuring risk after the fact.

Shade trees for carbon capture

We encourage and support shade-tree planting on farms we work with, capturing carbon and protecting the crop underneath it from the effects of a changing climate.

Full traceability

Three claims, proven, not asserted

"Full traceability" at AVN doesn't stop at deforestation status. The same technician visit records what a buyer actually wants to know before they'll put their name behind a supply chain.

A fair price, paid at source

Verified value-share and farmer payment records are logged per lot, so a fair price isn't a claim, it's a documented record we can show a buyer.

Water supply, protected

Water use and erosion risk are recorded per farm at watershed scale, so sourcing from an origin doesn't come at the cost of the water that origin depends on.

Sustainable practice, followed

Deforestation-free status, shade-tree cover, and land-use records travel with every lot, the same evidence base a Due Diligence Statement is built from.

Cooperatives

Cooperatives are part of the network, not around it

Farmers rely on cooperatives to harvest and process their crop. Cooperatives are an integral part of AVN's supply chain, not a middle layer we're trying to design around. AVN runs a support scheme for the cooperatives we work with, aimed at community development and protecting this part of the supply chain, alongside the plot-level evidence work.

This sits next to the reassurance we give exporters directly: AVN does not replace the people already doing this work. We help prove what a farm and cooperative are already doing well, and support them where they need it.

Who does this work

This standard is staffed, not aspirational. Our East Africa Director and our Water & Community Consultant lead this work at origin, alongside the field technicians who do the plot-level mapping and verification.

This is the standard behind every AVN Earth compliance client, and every direct purchase of green coffee or cocoa.
